Florida to North Carolina 1000 miles
11 May 2010 Odd Conversation
I have found it really hard to understand some of the people – they talk so fast and equally they don’t understand me. After being asked by one woman where I was from and I told her the UK she yelled to her friends “He’s cycling from the Ukraine” and the reply back was “ain’t we at war with them?”

But on with the ride through South Carolina and into North Carolina, it’s either swamp or forest but very pleasant cycling making around 50 miles a day in temps in low 90’s. 1 May 2010Just passed where Robert E Lee had his HQ in South Carolina. Picked a very pleasant area. Have now reached South Point, nothing here except a Best Western – but what more do i need. Beautiful ride through small country roads with big old oak trees covered in grey Spanishmoss like long beards. Just realisedI need a shave beginning to look too much like one of the trees. Hot today but great riding.Covered around 260 miles, slow slow but getting fitter and my foot is still swollen but I’m sure it is getting better. Heading through Georgia, great riding following the 119 to South Carolina. Really enjoying it now that I've got into it again. Just need the butt to start enjoying it!Got as far as North Carolina and the house sold really quickly so had to come back and sot out paper work etc. Been out and about though, give me a call sometime and if you need a driver for one of your bikes let me know.

- Trying to pin point my whereabouts I ask one old guy why they don’t put up signs around here as to where we are – “Cos we all know where we are around here and those that have no business here don’t need to know” Well that put me straight.
- Rob Holl Please let me apologize for my ignorant fellow countrymen.12 May
